Mark August 15th, 2026 on your calendar as our target date for the next Wanakee Homecoming and 5K. Bucky Beaver will be our host for this year’s 5K event. When we were opening the camp at the May Workday, Bucky was already busy clearing the lower portion of the course, hauling away the winter debris that had fallen on the trail (conveniently to use for his own lodge). We will open registration on/about June 1st.

The Wanakee Wilderness 5K trail race supports our camp scholarship fund and continuous improvements to our facility infrastructure, gives our guests and supporters an opportunity for exercise and enjoy the scenic White Mountains and Lakes Region of New Hampshire and to celebrate the end of our summer camp season.

This is a perfect outdoor event for family and friends to attend. They can be a race participant or cheer on our competitors as they approach the finish line. After the race, we invite you to stay and join us for our annual Homecoming BBQ and camp activities post award ceremony. BBQ tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for kids ages 6-12. There is something for everyone to enjoy on race day at Wanakee.

The WW5K is a challenging and exciting course traversing through the beautiful hills and woodland valleys of our 227 acre site. As a race participant you’re sure to enjoy the varied trail terrain through northern hardwoods and evergreens, running over the granite rocks and woodland paths toward Lemon Squeeze, enjoying the breathtaking view from Look Out Point, or feeling the cool breeze along the path at the Waterfront.
