Race Details

The race course wanders through the wooded hiking trails of Wanakee. The course takes you from lake level on a winding climb up 300 feet in elevation to Lookout Point, one of the Wanakee peaks. You than traverse a saddle to the second peak by The Lemon Squeeze. From there it is a dash back down the hill to the log cabin retreat and the perimeter trail back to the main camp. The last portion of the course takes you by the camp waterfront before crossing the finish line.

Purpose

Proceeds from the WW5K benefit Wanakee, a 56-year old summer camp. Race fees and donations from participants like you provide capital for facilities upgrades and support scholarships to those in need.

Course Safety

Much of this course is off road and mountain trails. On the trails, participants can expect rocks, roots, quick turns, slippery surfaces, and small debris (as one would expect in the woods). Runners are urged to exercise extra caution when traversing these parts of the course. There will be medical professionals on site in case of an incident. Safety observers will be located throughout the course to guide runners and respond. Due to the nature of the course, strollers, baby joggers, bicycles, and pets are not permitted.
